The two faces of Sarah Jessica Parker: Mother-of-three looks a mess on the school run... but transforms into a style queen

Sarah Jessica Parker looked like she had just tumbled out of bed as she took her children to school on Monday morning in chilly New York.
The 47-year-old mother of three headed off wearing a rather garish ensemble that suggested she may have dressed in the dark.

Still, the blue and grey polka dot coat wpuld have at least kept her warm and cosy during the brisk walk with James, 10, and three-year-old twins Tabitha and Marion.

The actress, who was joined by a nanny, also had on a white top and grey and pink floral trousers that accentuated her slim legs.

She also sported a favourite pair of floppy tan boots that she's been wearing a lot lately during her morning school runs.

While her sunglasses were definitely designer style, that tousled hair was definitely not, but Sarah obviously could care less about the way her locks looked.

Sarah smiled broadly and seemed in the best of spirits, enjoying this brief time before having to say goodbye to the tots for a few hours.

Later in the day, a miracle occurred and Sarah was transformed from drab homemaker to a glamour queen.

Sarah must have turned heads when she emerged from the West Village neighbourhood apartment she shares with husband Matthew Broderick.

The I Don't Know How She Does It star looked stunning in a navy blue dress and camel-coloured coat, walking with an air of grace in dark blue pointy heels with needle-thin high heels.

She wore earrings this time and carried a chic leather and chain handbag, along with a paperback copy of the Pulitzer Prize winning The Stories of John Cheever.

Sarah's long honey-brown hair was pulled up high in a neat ponytail, proving that she does own a hairbrush.

While her destination remains a mystery, Sarah certainly had somewhere important to go dressed to impress in that outfit.

The busy actress continues to juggle motherhood with career and recently finished voicing a character for Escape From Planet Earth.

She is also looking forward to working in two films already in pre-production.
One project, Mixtape, is about a young girl who tries to find out everything she can about the mother she lost with the help of her aunt, while the other is a romantic comedy called Married and Cheating that also stars Brendan Fraser.

Who says she has to look amazing ALL the time, I think it's great. If you look good ALL the time, on special occasions, you look 'normal'...... In addition, I think the fact that she looks a little wrecked in the morning is because she's focussing on her children first! Shows she isn't a 'nanny type,' looking great herself, because the nanny does everything... And she doesn't even look that bad, just the same as a lot of other mothers on the school run!
