While many singers would have shied away from the thought of getting wet in front of millions of people during the live performance, Rihanna was more than happy to get soaked - smiling widely as she posed up while soaking wet at the end of the performance.

Rihanna has been busy this month and recently traveled around the world with a host of fans and members of the press as part of her 777 tour.

She conducted the mammoth journey to promot her latest album Unapologetic which hit the top spot on the U.K. chart this week.

After hearing the news, she tweeted: '#UNAPOLOGETIC has debuted at number 1 here in the UK!!! Thank you guys for owning s**t this week!! See you tonight on #Xfactor (sic)'

Home and dry: Rihanna looked comfortable before water rained down on her

Rihanna was joined on Sunday's episode of the X Factor by fellow musician Bruno Mars who also performed on the show. He performed new track Locked Out Of Heaven and looked stylish in a black suit and T-shirt.

It is the second time the star has performed on the programme after singing his song Runaway Baby on last year's series.

After his performance he joked that host Dermot O'Leary should join him in on stage in future as a backing dancer.
