Kate Moss has replaced Natalia Vodianova as the face of luxury shoe brand Stuart Weitzman for next season.

The supermodel, 38, who has apparently never fronted a U.S. footwear campaign before, landed the job after her longtime friend and famed photographer Mario Testino suggested her to Mr Weitzman himself.

The designer told New York Magazine: 'He brought her up, and I thought, Well, I don’t remember seeing too many bad pictures of her, so yeah!'

The series of black-and-white images shows Ms Moss dressed in a crisp white shirt and barely-there hotpants allowing the shoes to take center-stage.

Among them are a pair of studded leather gladiator sandals that climb up her legs to just below the knee.

Another frame see her wearing a classic pair of metallic stilettos with ample thigh on display.

Describing the British supermodel, New York-based Mr Weitzman, who first started designing shoes in the early Sixties, said: 'It was amazing to me how super professional she is.

'When Testino wanted a pose, she knew exactly how to give it to him. We only had one retake out of six shoots. That’s not normal.'

'She’s really a very nice girl. She’s got her feet on the ground.'

Ms Moss explained that she also had a 'great time' shooting and it was 'wonderful meeting Stuart on set'.

Ms Moss, Ms Vodianova, and Mr Testino are just a few of the big names Stuart Weitzman has worked with recently.

The company also collaborated with celebrities such as Chloe Moretz, Nikki Reed and Brooklyn Decker on a range in September to help raise money for ovarian cancer research.

Mr Weitzman said the high-profile campaigns, which began after the company was acquired by Jones Apparel Group in May 2010, are helping to attract a new generation of consumer.

'More and more of our product is going to women ages 40 and under, who I’ll call ‘fashion appreciative,' he explained.

'It's a bigger percentage of our business than it was two years ago and certainly five years ago, and it'll be a bigger percentage next year.'

Talking about next year's footwear trend he predicts that black and white will be the colour of the season, closed-toe sandals will take off and women will continue to wear boots and booties throughout spring.

'Also, we've gotten the message that you all love flats and you want them to look cool. You don’t want them to look orthopedic, and we're putting as much design into flats as we're putting into high heels,' he added.

Mr Weitzman - who says he has a lot of muses - believes that Ms Moss represents his brand well.

He told People: 'I don’t need to have in our ad campaign someone we’re making shoes for, but someone who can show off the product as beautifully as we hope it is.'

Mr Weitzman said he hopes she will be on board for another two or three seasons, but as yet no deal has been signed.
